Shark Tagging
“The fittings allow us to put the cradle together without the need for aluminum welding skills, were very easy to install and permit us to dismantle the cradle between trips for easy storage. They stood up well to the seawater with no sign of corrosion. The blue sharks were caught with a floating stainless steel longline using barb less hooks. They were then retrieved as close as possible to the vessel and guided onto the cradle as it was suspended submerged in the water. Once the sharks were on the cradle, they were lifted onto the deck with the lucky ones receiving a satellite tag for positional data while the others got a simple numbered tag. All sharks were then released to continue on their journey.”
