This is the fifth year I have participated in The Polar Plunge for Special Olympics. Each year I make it a personal mission to raise money for Special Olympics as the organization is near and dear to my heart. Growing up my Uncle with special needs was involved with Special Olympics participating in bowling and baseball among other sports. He passed away this April and I made it my mission to sponsor at least 2 athletes for the year. The polar plunge is an event where participants are sponsored by donations to jump in the frigid water of Lake Erie. The water temperature this year was 44 degrees! Each $500 sponsors one athlete for a year. This year I raised $1360.00. My team Boom Chicken as whole raised $6,175 for Special Olympics
